Use a Computer
The St Charles Public Library has public computing available throughout the Library for patrons of all ages.
Computer Spaces
Located on the main level of the library, intended for general use by high-school-aged and adult patrons. Contains 15 Windows 10 PCs, and one iMac computer with access to the Adobe Creative Suite.
Located on the upper level of the library, intended for high school patrons only. Contains 4 Windows 10 PCs, as well as two 55” gaming televisions with PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch consoles.
Located on the lower level of the library, intended for patrons K-8th grade and their associated adults. Children have priority in this area, and adult patrons using these computers may be asked to end their session if a child is waiting for a computer. Contains 12 Windows 10 PCs.
Located throughout the main level of the library. Study room laptops for in-library use running Windows 10 are available upon request at the Technology Help Desk; these laptops have webcams and microphones, and are suitable for video calls.
All computers have internet access, Microsoft Office software, and printing capabilities, and can be used for up to 90 minutes at a time. Computers do not have webcams or microphones.
Patrons with a valid St Charles Library card can use the barcode number on the back of their card to sign into a computer. Patrons without a library card will need to request a guest pass from a service desk.
All information on library computers is erased upon logging out, and will not be recoverable. Please make sure to back up any important work to an external flash drive or to online storage.
